There was a time when people who had a “brain f_rt” while talking paused their thought process by uttering the unseemly word “UH”. SHREIK!!! went our parents and teachers and the “uppity ups” and “muckety mucks” of proper English grammer. So we learned over the years not to utter said horrible word so as to improve our grammer and speech process. We did well for many years and purged the horrible word “UH” from our vocabulary.

But now “UH” has been replaced by the asinine and ridiculous phrases “I MEAN” and “YOU KNOW”. No one on your TV screen can carry on a conversation without these two phrases contaminating said conversation. Smart people. Brilliant people. They contaminate their speech with “I MEAN” and “YOU KNOW” ad infinitum, ad naseum.

President Trump and his staff do not use these asinine terms, nor do most intelligent people. But the Congress-pukes, the news-pukes, guest speakers, political candidates … they do use these terms and it is pitiful.

Therefore, could we have a concerted effort by all in taking us back to the days of “UH”? At least it was “short and sweet” and one only said it once and then the teachings of parents and educators took hold and we “minded our P’s and Q’s” and all things gramattically correct and carried on our conversations in a sensible manner.
